June 30, 2008 Geophysics bright spots
- Haoping Huang's (黄皓平) paper, Airborne geophysical data leveling based on line-to-line correlations (in Geophysics, May-June, 2008), appeared in Dr. Stephen Hill's column, Geophysics bright spots, in The Leading Edge, June, 2008. This is the third paper by Haoping Huang and his coauthors that has been mentioned in Dr. Hill's column.
- Geo-EM is continuing to release new software programs for sale and rent. These programs, and the earlier releases, include a series of state-of-the-art algorithms for processing and interpreting airborne geophysical data and near-surface electromagnetic (EM) data, representing Haoping Huang's 30 years developments. These tools are easy to use and make data processing and interpretation be much easier and faster.
- China Aero Geophysical Survey & Remote Sensing Center for Land and Resources (AGRS) in Beijing and Jilin University in Changchun recently invited Haoping Huang (黄皓平) to give a speech on airborne electromagnetic surveys. Haoping met his old friend, Wang Ping, the director of AGRS, and many other friends/schoolmates at AGRS. He gave two speeches there titled (1) the present status and advances in airborne electromagnetic methods, and (2) data processing and interpretation of airborne electromagnetic data. Also, he met with many young geophysicists and geologists.
In Changchun, Haoping visited the College of Geoexploration Science and Technology, and the College of Instrumentation and Electrical Engineering at Jilin University. Haoping gave the same two speeches here as well.
